I love this glass wall on the Symphony housing block. Why this motif? It's located next to the Orpheum theatre, home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

iRobot? No! I, Robot

Photobucket

This is the section of street that was turned into the futuristic city in the film "I, Robot". Watch it; you won't believe it's the same place.

Summer Greens

Photobucket

One of the last few evenings that can be enjoyed for hours at the Quay, just sitting and reading in the setting sun. Already the weather is set to turn cloudy for who knows how long.

Reflection

Photobucket

When temperatures are pushing 30C, it's time to leave the city and head for the forests, lakes and mountains. I found a beautiful view across Cheakamus Lake in Garibaldi Provincial Park, near Whistler.

Chop

Photobucket

In front of this apartment building about 8 large fir trees were cut down. They were tall and old and gave the building shade from the sun. I wonder what reason there was for their removal.

Refuge

Photobucket

A shot from the SkyTrain of my favourite little island at the confluence of the Brunette and Fraser rivers. At this time of year there is a profusion of pink flowers (either fireweed or a variety of sweet pea) around the edge.

In the top right of the photo the two pillars that are part of the new Port Mann suspension bridge can be seen.

Confusion

Sometimes neighbourhood traffic calming doesn't always seem simple.

Pop of Colour

Photobucket

Sometimes I wonder if this construction will ever finish. Again, you can see that corners are cut (so to speak) as there will be only an up escalator with stairs down. I fear that soon these coloured buildings will appear so grungy and dated, and may not complement the rest of the downtown area that has more classical architecture. Also, creating so much available outdoor space protected from the rain near to a SkyTrain station usually means an increase in "undesirable" behaviours.
