Soak in the View

Photobucket

Beautiful view from the edge of the cranberry field. The mountain off in the distance is the very tall Mount Baker, in Washington State (USA). It's about 3200m tall, and is a (not very) active volcano.

The Separator

Photobucket

After travelling through the long pipes, the cranberries and water are separated as they are pushed upwards towards this contraption at the top of the shipping container loaded on the back of a truck. I think I heard that this container holds something like $30 000 worth of cranberries.

Cranberry Travels

Photobucket

After the cranberry boom part of the process, the cranberries and water travel through this tubing along the dykes in the field to reach the final stage: the sorter and shipping truck. Stay tuned!

Cranberry Boom

Photobucket

It was the annual Fort Langley Cranberry Festival today. To celebrate, I visited the Fort Wine Co and got to see part of the cranberry harvest in process. The cranberries are being sucked into a pipeline that runs them to the loading truck, after which they will be taken to the winery and made into delectable cranberry dessert wines.

Rumour has it, this cranberry bog is haunted by a ghost!
