Crammed

Last autumn two old homes were torn down on this lot. Now, it's jam-packed with - I believe - 12 townhomes. This is the centre "courtyard", and if it's more than 10m wide I'll be surprised. The buildings to the right backing on to 8th Street. How is this appealing living? I'm all for upping urban density but this seems a little...claustrophobic.

New construction near New Westminster SkyTrain Station. Among other things, there will be cinemas, fast food shops, travel agents and - without question - more mobile phone shops.

Theme Day: Under Construction

This building is one of many being torn down to make way for new buildings at the foot of 8th Street at Columbia. I was intrigued by the signage uncovered during the process. This building is, as of today, no longer standing.

Greetings

Seen at the construction site behind New Westminster SkyTrain station, this orange glove waving to passers-by.

Squished

Curious, if this is meant to become a shopping arcade. Behind the bobcat is a concrete pillar that supports the SkyTrain line. There's only about 2m between the pillar and the shopfront. It all seems a little awkward.

Once

This used to be a road, the leftmost openings in the building (nearest to the concrete) used to be the door and windows to a street-level cafe. The construction juggernaut is slowly turning this whole corner into a solid, connected slab of concrete.

Perspective

For Friday's shot of the construction site, I was standing on the SkyTrain platform which is the highest platform with the green roof. The lower platform is the first level up from the street where the ticket machines are.

Dozer

Construction outside New Westminster SkyTrain station. This used to be a through road. Now it seems it is being usurped to construct the mammoth shopping and cinema complex.
