Garibaldi Lake
This August I have spent more time hiking than wandering the city, which is why yet again there are photos from the region and not New Westminster proper.
The spring is so late in the alpine that this lake only thawed in the past 10 days or so. That snow over there won't melt before the next snowfall. In the alpine meadow, most wildflowers have not yet started blooming.

Green land?

The second day of the month was spent flying from Moscow to Vancouver via Frankfurt and Calgary. This is a view over Greenland's west coast.

Piled up

Another one of those weekends where what was snow 12 hours ago is now a slushy mess in the rain. One can only hope it doesn't dip below freezing tonight or else the roads will be even bigger nightmares in the morning. Hills and ice just do not mix.

Slush

The coast was hit with a blizzard last night, with up to 25cm falling in some areas. By morning, it was already above 0C and raining, turning all the snow into slush. It was a slipsliding sort of travel day until everything was beaten down. Here's the view of the gas station at the corner of 8th and 6th, as I was walking past earlier this evening.

Wonderland

For the first time, New Westminster Daily Photo leaves the city. This photo was taken in Surrey, just across the river, as I was waiting for the bus to return to New Westminster. This is just a taste of the weather we had over the past 24 hours: snow, then more snow, then snowy rain, then rain.

Jaunty

Met this handsome fellow whilst walking home the other day. If the forecast holds true, perhaps he will have some companions tomorrow: 5-10cm are scheduled to fall.

First Snow

The town square clock - posted last Saturday - and how it looks this Saturday.
Due to the effects of La Nina (the year following an El Nino year), we are - apparently - due for lots of snow and colder temperatures than typical. Last night was the first major storm: wind, rain, then snow. Today the air was crisp with the arctic air still lingering.
