Steely

1November2012

Every day there is something different about this view. The mighty Fraser and its bridges: SkyTrain in front, the Pattullo behind.

Rally

Photobucket

Over 100 adults and kids rallied this morning in Sapperton outside of TransLink's Open House at Sapperton Pensioners Hall. They were there to voice their opinions against plans to replace the Pattullo Bridge with a 6-lane span.

Big Sky

Photobucket

Let the inner child in me sit at the front of the SkyTrain to admire the view as I traveled west towards Columbia Station.

Stormin'

Photobucket

Love the light. Blue sky on one side, storm clouds on the other. There's mountains buried under those clouds!

Wonder where that barge is heading with all of those crushed automobiles?

Mountain view

What you see when looking east as you take the SkyTrain from Surrey into New Westminster. Not too shabby...

Theme Day - My Favourite Part of Town

Photobucket

No surprise here - my favourite part of town is the Quay: watching the river flow past, the boats working and playing, seeing mountain views like this off in the distance...

Quaint

Photobucket

Heading eastward at the New West Quay. The small building at left is the ticket office for paddlewheel boat cruises on the river. The two bridges in the distance are for SkyTrain and commuters (the red one), linking New Westminster and Surrey.

Span

Photobucket

On a clear day, the view eastward is gorgeous. Through the bridge you can often see mountains - this time of year covered in snow. To the south Mt Baker in Washing State looms, though it's more difficult to photograph from this location.

Bridges

3 July 2010

View of the SkyTrain suspension bridge, the Patullo Bridge, and the railway bridge (which opens to let boats through). The road running parallel to the Fraser River is Front Street. Just beyond the bridge is the confluence of the Fraser and Brunette rivers.
